SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO – Authorities on Tuesday arrested a 15-year-old San Francisco boy on suspicion of intentionally ramming a police vehicle with a stolen car and then leading officers in two separate pursuits before crashing and injuring two people.
Around 12:40 p.m., officers found an occupied stolen car at the intersection of King and Radburn drives in South San Francisco, according to the South San Francisco Police Department.
Officers tried to stop the car, but the driver intentionally rammed a police vehicle and drove away, police said. They pursued the driver but called off the chase a short time later due to his alleged reckless driving.
Roughly two hours later, officers found the driver and the stolen car in the 200 block of South Airport Boulevard, according to police. Officers chased after the driver again, but ended the pursuit when he started driving the wrong way on city streets.
The teen continued to drive recklessly for another three quarters of a mile and crashed into other cars near the San Francisco International Airport, police said. He tried to run away but was caught a short distance later. Meanwhile, two people in the cars he hit were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The teen was arrested and booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall in San Mateo on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, felony reckless evading, evading an officer by driving opposite of traffic and receiving stolen property, according to police.
