PINOLE — Two people were wounded after a disagreement inside a bowling alley Sunday escalated into a shooting outside the building, police said.

Ambulances took both victims to hospitals, where they were treated and released, Pinole police Lt. Matt Avery said early Monday.

The shooting happened about 8:15 p.m. outside the AMF Pinole Valley Lanes in the 1500 block of Pinole Valley Road, near Interstate 80, Avery said.

“It started as some sort of argument or disagreement between two unrelated groups inside the bowling alley,” Avery said. “The shooting took place outside.”

According to police, the suspect fired several rounds and also hit several cars.

Avery said police investigators do not know how many people may have been involved in the argument or what created it. They said a suspect fled.

Officers from the Hercules and Richmond police departments and California Highway Patrol, and deputies from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office also responded to the shooting.

Police urged anyone with information to contact them at 510-724-1111.
