MARTINEZ — Two people have been arrested and charged with carefully planning the November shooting death of a San Pablo man, allegedly staking out his house for days and using a pistol equipped with a laser sight to kill him.
Leonisha Chanae Robinson, 26, and Nephalem Dozier-Muhammad, 19, were charged Monday with conspiracy and murder in the death of 58-year-old Murray Edwards. The charges carry street terrorism enhancements, alleging the crimes were committed to benefit a Richmond-area gang.
Edwards was shot and killed around 5:30 a.m. Nov. 20 outside a home in the 2600 block of 19th Street. The shooter fired “multiple shots,” and Edwards died in the shooting, authorities said.
The complaint alleges that starting Nov. 9, Robinson “conducted surveillance” in front of the San Pablo home, in preparation for the homicide. On Nov. 20, Robinson acquired a pistol with a laser sight, and Dozier-Muhammad texted Robinson a picture of Edwards’ car outside the home, authorities say.
Then, according to the criminal complaint, Dozier-Muhammad picked Robinson up on Maine Street in Richmond, and the two drove to Edwards’ home to shoot Edwards. The complaint does not name the alleged shooter, nor does it give any indication as to what the suspected motive was.
