No. 20 King’s Academy 69, Carmel 61
The King’s Academy’s dominant start continued as the Knights rolled past visiting Carmel on Wednesday night in a non-league game.
Jon Taylor (25 points), Jaalen Mhoon (17 points) and Tylek Barnett (14 points) led the way.
TKA improved to 11-0, its best start since 2010.
“I would be lying if I thought we’d start 11-0,” said coach Cameron Bradford, whose team made its debut this week in the Bay Area News Group rankings.
Bradford said he has emphasized player and ball movement and staying tight defensively. He also added that building chemistry has been crucial.
TKA has outscored its opponents 727-489.
“I knew we had a lot of good players,” Bradford said. “Getting them to play together as a team was going to be the biggest challenge for us. The off-court activity has definitely helped the team.”
Clovis North 65, No. 3 Salesian 63
Salesian (6-3) has lost two out of its past three games after falling to Clovis North in the Mission Prep tournament in San Luis Obispo. Evin Goodwin (12 points), Elias Obenyah (12 points) and Aaron Claytor (10 points) were Salesian’s top scorers.
No. 16 Moreau Catholic 54, No. 18 Monte Vista 41
Moreau Catholic (6-2) extended its winning streak to four games after rolling past Monte Vista (8-2) in the Mt. Eden tournament. Kellen Hampton led the way for Moreau Catholic with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Robert Morgan and Spencer Shonnard both scored 11 points and LeBrie Goudy-Lee had nine points and 11 rebounds for the Mariners. Joshua Matthew scored 11 points for Monte Vista.
Girls basketball
No. 2 Archbishop Mitty 51, Bishop McNamara 40
Freshman Mckenna Woliczko had 26 points and 18 rebounds in Mitty’s win over Bishop McNamara at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix. Maya Hernandez added 11 points and Elle Hanson scored 10 points for the Monarchs (8-2).
No. 3 Carondelet 62, Cookeville 59 (2OT)
Carondelet escaped with a victory over Cookeville at the Nike Tournament of Champions as Jamie Kent had 21 points and 14 rebounds and Allie Cummins had 18 points and six rebounds to lead the winning side. Keisha Vitalicio added 15 points and 10 assists for Carondelet (13-1).
No. 4 Salesian 57, Benson Tech 54 (OT)
Nyana Asiasi scored 19 points in Salesian’s win over Benson Tech at the Nike TOC. Eryn Gardner (16 points) and Makiah Asidanya (10 points) both stood out for Salesian, which improved to 7-1.
No. 6 San Ramon Valley 65, No. 16 St. Ignatius 36
San Ramon Valley, playing in its first home game of the season, routed St. Ignatius in non-league play. Anneka Lupinek (19 points) Amanda Kerner (15 points) and Sierra Chambers (12 points) finished with double-digit scoring for San Ramon Valley (6-1). SI fell to 3-5.
No. 10 Heritage 71, Rocklin 33
UCLA-bound Amanda Muse had 20 points and 10 assists in Heritage’s win over Rocklin at the Oak Ridge tournament. Heritage’s Kendall McClure (14 points) and Grace Hernandez (11 points) also scored in double digits. Heritage improved to 5-1.
No. 20 Monte Vista 62, Lincoln-SF 20
Rachel Brans scored a career-high 19 points in Monte Vista’s win over Lincoln-San Francisco in a tournament game. Nia Coleman added 12 points for Monte Vista, which improved to 7-2.

James Logan 2, No. 4 De La Salle 1
Angel Vasquez scored two goals in James Logan’s (5-4) non-league win over visiting De La Salle (2-2). Matt Rajecki scored for DLS.
No. 7 Richmond 2, Newark Memorial 1
Andres Araujo and Fernando Villanueva each scored a goal on the road in a win over Newark Memorial. Richmond improved to 4-1.
