The 27th Annual Día de los Muertos Festival, honoring Day of the Dead traditions, was held along International Boulevard in the Fruitvale neighborhood. The celebration featured traditional dancers, artwork, live music, altar exhibits and more.
The free festival attracted people from throughout the Bay Area with the website claiming over 100,000 people have attended in past years.
Dia de los Muertos — also known as Day of the Dead — is a Latin American celebration of one’s deceased ancestors or loved ones. Altars are built in tribute to the departed, often decorated with photos, gifts, flowers, food and drink.
