While Lea Michele says she has moved on in life since the untimely death of Cory Monteith, she recently revealed that she has found a way to always keep him close.
As she revealed on her Instagram account, she got the No. 5 inked into the side of her rib cage as a reminder of her popular former boyfriend and “Glee” co-star. Monteith died in July 2013 of a drug overdose at age 30.
No. 5 refers to the number that adorned the back of the football jersey played by Monteith’s quarterback character Finn Hudson on “Glee.”
Monteith shot to stardom playing the singing quarterback on the series from 2009 until his death in 2013. Michele played his on-again, off-again singing star girlfriend.
With her tattoo photo, Michele added the caption, “And one more … for my quarterback.”
Michele, now starring in “Scream Queens,” admits it’s been a challenge to move on since Monteith’s death, especially as fans still miss their on- and off-screen romance.
According to Billboard, she faced a backlash on social media after she started a relationship with Matthew Paetz about a year after Monteith’s death.
“I love my fans,” she said in an interview with the Fempire podcast. “They’re incredible and they were really a part of my whole story and my whole journey with me, so I do come from a place of understanding, but it’s also really hard.”
