Injuries happen on the football field, that’s expected. But it’s usually not involving a mascot. Blasting a T-shirt gun. Into its groin.

But that’s what happened to Chip, the anthropomorphic University of Colorado buffalo, on Saturday during the Buffs’ game against New Hampshire at Folsom Field in Boulder.
Chip was carted off the field after the incident.

My view of @Chipthebuffalo being carted off the field. I heard a loud bang and saw Chip down. Seems like a malfunction with the t-shirt cannon pic.twitter.com/GIq2P1VTXG

The story does have a happy ending. Chip was not seriously hurt and later returned to the game.
