OAKLAND — A 44-year-old Antioch woman killed early Tuesday in a suspected DUI-related incident in the Oakland hills has been identified by the coroner’s office as Victoria Gonzalez.

The 48-year-old Antioch man man police said was driving the SUV was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. The man, who was slightly injured in the crash, was released from custody pending further investigation, authorities said.

The single-vehicle crash was reported about 12:44 a.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of Grizzly Peak Boulevard west of Fish Ranch Road.

Police said the SUV was traveling westbound and approaching a turn when it left the roadway and went down an embankment some 200 feet before finally stopping.

Gonzalez was ejected from the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene.

The driver was arrested after investigators determined alcohol was a factor in the crash, authorities said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
