Teenager arrested in San Mateo over suspected firearms offenses
PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

A 17-year-old boy from San Bruno was arrested in San Mateo on Friday night after police found two guns in his possession during a traffic stop.

The incident took place around 11 p.m., when police pulled over the car the teen was a passenger in. The car’s driver was on post-release community supervision, and another passenger — also a minor — was on probation. The 17-year-old boy was not subject to a probation search, the San Mateo Police Department said.

Police conducted searches of the driver and the other passenger and did not find anything. But while conducting a pat search on the 17-year-old boy, they found a loaded Glock in his waistband and another gun in his jacket pocket, police said.

Police continued to search the vehicle and said they found high-capacity magazines and a drum magazine in the boy’s possession. The teen was arrested and booked into juvenile detention on several charges, including possession of an unserialized gun and carrying a loaded firearm he did not own in a vehicle.
